Sparta Winter Sports Start the Year Strong: New Season Now Underway!

With Governor Murphy’s recent announcement that all indoor sports are permitted to resume on Saturday, January 2nd, Sparta sports are off to a strong and hopeful start in the new year, with many winter sports now beginning their long awaited seasons. Due to the current coronavirus situation, the start date of many sports has been continuously postponed; however many exciting seasons are now underway! For instance, Sparta’s ice hockey team has recently merged with Kinnelon High school and Jefferson High school, and together, the team is prepared to start off their 2021 season strong. The first meeting for the winter track meeting is currently holding its first virtual practice on this Monday, January 11th. In addition, the Sparta bowling season is scheduled to start on January 11th. If you are still interested in joining the bowling team, contact Coach Carter at Gerald.Carter@sparta.org . With this exciting announcement, boys and girls basketball are also expected to resume next week as well.
